God is Good

Writer: Gracie BerneyGracie Berney

Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.

Hello friends and welcome back to the blog. I hope you've had a great week, but if you didn't, I just want to say I totally understand.

The last week has felt like an "all-out" intense exercise, which no end in sight. It just felt like one thing after another. Last week's post was about the Beauty in Now, and it felt like the devil did all he could to prevent me from seeing or experiencing any type of beauty I was trying to describe. But I'm happy to inform you that the Lord is still showing His beauty despite our difficult circumstances. So this week's post is a short reminder that I pray inspires you and me.

Psalm‬ ‭143‬‬:‭8‬ (‭ESV‬‬) holds the words of the Psalmist David. In this Psalm, we find the servant of God in a vulnerable state. In fact in the previous chapter, he was in a cave and crying out to God. However in chapter 143, he is reminding himself of who God is.

Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust... Inspite of whatever your week may or may not look like, or the current circumstances you're facing, let me encourage you or perhaps myself of the fact that 'God is good and His love is steadfast.'

This past week I had to remind myself of this truth over and over. And to tell you the truth, as I sit here writing these words, I'm reminding myself again that God is good, inspite of the current challenges.

Below is a short poem I wrote this week that I find fitting.

Where is our hope when people fail us or things disappoint us?

We lift up our eyes to the hills to find the God who is good and a love that is unchanging.

Where is our strength when our jobs tire us or our bosses try to fire us?

We lift up our eyes to the hills to find the God who is our strength and a love that is unfading.

Where is our courage when we battle health crisis or or sometimes even terminal loss?

We lift up our eyes to the hills to find the God who heals if he chooses and a love that never ends.

Where is our life when we battle depression or mental illnesses?

We lift up our eyes to the hills to find the God who is our comfort and His love securing.

So today, as I struggle with questions, concerns and fears, there's one thing that keeps me going and it is the fact that God who is good and loves me steadfastly. I pray that you come to this realization and comforting thought as well.

Stay blessed,

G
