While you can be anything in life, instead, choose to be kind, pray for people, check up on people and love others well.

Hi friend. Welcome back to another week! Can you believe we’re almost into the third month of the year? Time sure flies!

Well, today’s post is going to be short and simple, but I pray the message stays with you for along time.

The title is: Loving Others Well and friend, let me say that the more I read the Word of God, the more I’m inspired by the life of Christ and how he treated people.

Being an introvert and someone that enjoys living a private life, loving people well can be difficult at times. I say this because, sometimes part of loving others is being vulnerable and open with others; and you know this isn’t always easy.

Jesus (the best example of this) showed this well. In Luke 7: 11-18, we find the story of the widow at Nain who lost her only son. At the time, Jesus happened to be walking by with His disciples when He saw the funeral procession. In vs 13, which is the verse I’d like to draw your attention, it states: “And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.” KJV‬‬

Even though, as far as we know, He had no familial connection to this lady, Christ saw her pain and was vulnerable in that moment. The compassion and love of Christ is truly inspiring. How He would look at others and feel their pain is something we can all learn from.

However, looking beyond the pain of others is what I’d like to focus on for a bit. So here are 3 ways you can love others well and see beyond their pain.

  1. Praying for others

When I say pray for others, I mean just that. I feel like I’m today's culture, you often here people say that, but are they truly doing that? We need to be praying for others. Imagine If all Christians truly prayed for others, we’d have no time or room in our hearts for hatred or jealousy. Or even gossip about their current situation.

Praying for others will give you the mind of Christ; which will inspire you to treat others with kindness and compassion.

2. Check up on others

One of my lovely sisters and I had a great conversation about checking up on others and I truly appreciated her words of wisdom. As we were talking, she said something to this effect, "the other person shouldn’t be the only one doing the checking in, if you care about them you should as well". Very true words indeed sis!

In a world where people feel like they have to be the focus, you change that narrative. Pick up the phone and call or text someone this week. Don't wait for them to call or check up on you. You do that for a change.

3. Treat others with kindness

The life of Jesus was marked by this characteristic trait. Why else would He stop a funeral procession to raise a dead boy back to life? And like I mentioned earlier, there are no verses that indicate that He had a personal relationship to this lady who had just lost her only child.

The main thing about kindness is this: you don’t have to know or like the person, you just have to be kind. Yes it’s that simple. Imagine if we treated everyone that came across our life with that mindset (whether you know them personally or not). Imagine a world where kindness was first. This would probably eliminate judgment and hate completely.

Conclusion

Friend, let me be the first to tell you that I’m not an expert on loving others well. In fact, I’ve had a few failures and short-comings in this department. But, the more I draw closer to Jesus, the more I’m learning to love others well and the more I'm trying to implement what I’m learning.

This week, I hope I inspire you to love people well; not just the ones in your circle, but even the ones that you don’t know. Perhaps the ones you will normally judge or treat different.

And remember this: while you can be anything in life, instead, choose to be kind, praying and checking up on others, and in so doing, loving others well.

Challenge

I’d love to hear your input. Please take a minute to share one way we can all love others well in the comment below. Thank you so much for doing that. God Bless.

Stay Blessed,

G
