How deep the Father’s love for us, How vast beyond all measure, That He should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure. - Stuart Townend
Hi friend, welcome to another post. Today's post is going to be a dedication, so I'm going to keep it short and sweet.
First of all, for all those living in the US, Happy Juneteenth (06/19) and Happy Father's Day (06/20)! I'm thankful, not just for my earthly father today, but also my heavenly father.
John 3:16, one of the most well-known Bible verses states that "God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son..." God [who is the greatest example of a father] exemplified so many wonderful character traits throughout the word, but to me, one of the greatest He displayed was His sacrificial love for all of us.
He gave up His only son so that we can all be saved. Have you truly accepted this gift? Because it is only after you do that you will discover these three things.
1. Our Father in Heaven loves unconditionally.
I do not know anyone that doesn't wanna be loved by their earthly father. In fact a lot of us do/did things that would make our fathers proud of us. I still remember things I did as a child to garner my father's respect and love. However, with our heavenly father, He loves us even without our efforts. He loves us despite our efforts! He loves us even with our weakness and frailties. I John 4:9 notes "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him."
2. Our Father in Heaven is always close.
Earthly fathers do not exist everywhere. Trust me I know. Since I am from Sierra Leone and my parents primarily live there, I do not always get to see them. In fact, this is one of the first father's day [in almost 5 years] we are spending together. However, our heavenly father is always close. The latter part of Matthew 28:20 states "and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."
3. Our Father Loves righteousness.
In a world where boundaries and standards are sometimes frowned upon, God wants us to live right. Yes, God has unconditional love and will always be there [if you let Him]; but he does want us to live a life that pleases Him. When you love someone, you will do just about anything to show them. The same is true of our walk with God. If you truly love Him, living rightly will not be a problem.
Conclusion
As I close today's post, I want to remind you that we do serve a heavenly father that truly cares about each one of us. Whether your earthly father was present or absent in your life, it makes no difference to Him because you are still His child.
