A heart that trust God fully will be at peace…
Happy New Year and Welcome to 2026!!!!
First of all, let me start by saying I’ve missed you friend. Thank you to everyone who reached out, asked or prayed throughout my hiatus from the blogs. Even though things haven’t been easy, God has been faithful.
However, it is my intent to re-start and remain consistent with this site - prayers appreciated for God to strengthen me with this adventure .
Today’s post will be short, but I’d love to just share a powerful encouragement from Gods word with you all.
Prov 3:5-6 states: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” [ESV]
It’s no surprise to the long term readers of this blog that Prov 3:5-6 is probably some of my favorite verses of scripture. And at the start of the new year, let me encourage you to make these couple of verses a priority too.
The first part deals with trusting the Lord with all of your heart.
Did you sit on a chair/couch today? If the answer is yes, then truth is you trusted the chair would hold you up. Did you drive or ride in a vehicle? Then, truth is you trusted in its ability to get you from point A to point B.
Whether we like to admit it or not, we all have things we put our trust in and don’t even give a second thought.
But for some reason, we usually struggle with trusting in the promises of God. Or the idea of trusting with everything in us. We want things a certain way and at the slightest hint of an issue, we begin to entertain worry and doubt and start thinking of our own plans.
Proverbs 19:21 states: “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” [ESV]
What plans are you making or have you made for 2026? Did you leave room for God to show up and perform a miracle? Can I challenge you to surrender those plans to the Lord?
The second part of our main text encourages us to lean not on our own understanding.
Friend, stop thinking you know best. One thing I’m learning is that most, if not all the time, our understanding will fail us. Truth is, our view of most of the challenges life throws at us is limited; but God sees the whole picture.
Isaiah 55:8-9 states: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” [ESV]
He doesn’t think like you and He certainly doesn’t plan like you do. So friend, whatever your goals, dreams or aspirations for 2026 may be, I encourage you to trust the Lord first. Surrender everything to Him with all your heart and then He will make your path straight.
Dear Father,
May we have an open heart and open hands in this year.
May we live to trust you completely in spite of the times or seasons ahead.
May we not lean on our minds or hearts as the world so often does, but may we acknowledge you in all our ways so you may direct our lives. In Jesus name. Amen.
