Steadfastness

The only constant we have in this life is a God who is steadfast and encourages us to do the same when barraged with the trials of this life

Hi friend, welcome back to the blog. Today’s post is short, but it’s something that has been on my mind for some time now.

A few weeks back, I shared my testimony of how God started transforming my life a few years back and how much He’s still working on me.

Today I’d like to share with you how the journey has continued and pray that this encourages you in your walk with God.

James‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬ states: “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” [‭ESV‬‬]

Several months ago, I read the book of James and the Lord really used this verse to speak to me. At the time, I was struggling with steadfastness. To be honest, I felt tired and discouraged and just weighted down with life’s circumstances.

To date, I’ve had other challenges and painful experiences but keep going back to this promise for the believer who stays faithful.

The first thing I notice in the verse is the word ‘blessed.’ Right off, James reveals the reward for remaining faithful under trial.

What trials are you facing in your life right now?

Life is hard. This is probably not the first or last time you’ll hear that statement. Truth is, no matter how much success you attain in this life; pain always seems to be close behind.

One thing that’s certain for the child of God is this: our trials bring blessings -whether in this life or the next. This leads me to the second word that stood out to me in the verse-steadfastness.

Steadfast isn’t a word you hear everyday; at least I don’t hear it on a daily basis. However, it is one that a child of God needs to practice daily.

With all the hardships and changes that comes with life, the only constant we have is a God who is steadfast and encourages us to do the same when barraged with the trials of this life.

What are you looking forward to?

Recently my husband and I took a trip and I can’t tell you how nice it was to look forward to something positive. As exciting as that trip was and the time leading up to it was it is nothing compared to the crown of life we will receive from God if we remain steadfast in our trials.

The truth about steadfastness for me is that it isn’t something you resolve one day and never have an issue with again. It is a daily commitment.

As recent as the last couple days, I’ve read these verses multiple times in hopes of cementing the truth and outcome in my mind. In hopes of letting faith prevail when I’m scared, hurting, doubtful or tired. In hopes of remaining joyful when fear and anxiety seems more present than hope or grit.

So as I end this post, I encourage you to do the same. Feel free to re-visit this post and or read James 1:12 as many times as you need to encourage yourself to keep going.

Let’s pray…

Dear God, today’s word is essentially about tenacity and grit in the face of hardships and trials of this life. Lord, I am neither of those things and in need of your grace. Please help me to be steadfast and to abide in you always. Help me to realize that I can do nothing outside of you. Help me release my worries and anxiety about things I cannot fix or change and in turn develop a love for you that compels me to live for you and share your love with others. Thank you for hearing and answering, in Jesus name. Amen.
