God gives us the courage to accept life’s adversity and the strength to survive and thrive through it all.
Hi friend, welcome back to the blog. Today’s post is short and simple, but hopefully encouraging.
To be a little candid with you all, the last couple weeks have been challenging mentally and physically, but I can truthfully say, God is and has been faithful.
I read Psalm 13 yesterday as part of my daily Bible reading and echoed the words of the Psalmist most of the day.
The opening verse of David’s prayer in Psalm 13:1 are in the form of three questions to God. David asks: “How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?” [ESV]
Chances are, we’ve all been in tough situations and have asked questions like these. We’ve wondered, how long is the trial / testing / challenging situation gonna last? Or where is God in the midst of my struggle?
Whatever your questions are, I hope that your prayers don’t end with just questions. I hope they make it to the point of remembrance and gratitude for past and future victories.
Yes, it’s no doubt that David was sad about what he felt was delayed help from God. However, he was also able to say this in Vs 5-6“But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.” [ESV]
You see friend, adversity is a part of life, but as Christians, we serve a God who can equip us with the strength to survive under the weight of adversity. Proverbs 24:10 states : “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.” [ESV]
So, as I conclude today’s post, I’d like to encourage you to do a few things.
First, I’d like for you to meditate on Ps 13.
Second, if you’re in the middle of life’s worst right now, take some time to ask God your difficult questions, but also spend some time recounting His faithfulness and blessings in your life. I believe this is truly where strength comes in adversity.
Dear Father,
So much is happening and sometimes we feel as though it’s too much. However, we know that you can handle anything. Help us to lean on you. Help us to cast our cares on you. Help us to trust you with the strength to survive and thrive through life’s adversity. Give us joy so we can bear positive testimonies of who You are and what You have done and will do for us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
