Inspired to go Deeper

The problem with a lot of Christians today, is not lack of information, its lack of introspection.

Welcome to another week's post! I trust that all the posts throughout the month of January have been a blessing to you and that the Lord is using the words to affect your life in a positive way.

Since this is the end of January and the beginning of February, I wanted us to evaluate our lives and see how things are progressing.

My very first post this year was about staying beautifully fresh. The next week, I featured an older post about compassion. Week three was about finding the quiet and last week was about trust.

How have all of these posts impacted your life?

Sometimes we have a tendency to measure growth/progress by how much information we have, but true progress takes place with the information we retain and implement. One of the areas the Lord has challenged with me this year is to go deeper.

In light of this, I wanted to share with you something I feel led to start, and one that I hope will continue throughout the rest of the year. Its very simple. Instead of a new post at the end/beginning of a new month, some questions about posts throughout the month will be asked. These questions can be answered individually as well as with an accountability partner.

In the past few weeks, we've talked about a lot of things, including how to stay fresh throughout the year, but if you were to honestly rate your life, how are your doing?

  • Do you have any new growth? If yes, how are you cultivating it? ***John 15:4

  • Have you been consistent in your spiritual walk? ***Psalm 1: 2 - 3

  • Are you experiencing any storms of life currently? If yes, how much patience are you displaying? ***Romans 5:3 - 4

  • How do you treat others?

  • Are you driven by compassion or something else?

  • Have you served anyone else besides yourself during the month of January?

  • Do you have a quiet place where you meet with God?

  • Are you quiet enough to hear God speak?

  • Is God able to speak to you? ***Jeremiah 29:13

  • What are you still afraid of pursuing?

  • Did you trust God for any miracles during the month of January?

  • How do you need the Lord to direct your path in the month of February?

***Proverbs 3:5 and 6

Conclusion

The problem with a lot of Christians today, is not lack of information, its lack of introspection.

Sometimes, we get so busy fulfilling obligations and living the Christian life like it is an obligation. No wonder the lack of true growth.

But what if all of that could change? What if we took time, every now and then, to sit down and re-evaluate our lives? The truth is, we might see things that both encourage and discourage us; but our lives will certainly change.

Yesterday morning, I woke up early from my husband getting ready to leave for his Men's group Bible study. After he left, I tried going back to sleep but couldn't. So I stayed up and went through some of the same questions in this post.

You know the funny thing is, prior to the questions, I thought I was doing good. Afterwards, I realized that there were areas I was falling short at.

As I conclude today's post, I want to encourage and challenge you to go through these questions prayerfully. Perhaps answer them slowly throughout the week. Also, make notes especially of the ones that you still need improvement.

Prayer

Dear God, thank you for everything you are teaching me. Thank you for all of the lessons I've learned in the month of January and the ones I will continue to learn throughout the year. Please help me to make time to work on these question, help me to get inspired to dig deeper. I don't want to be a passive Christian anymore. My desire is to know you and the power of your resurrection. I thank you for all that you are going to do in my life. Thank you for how you plan on using the storms and lessons I'm currently going through to reach and influence others for you. Continue to inspire me to go deeper. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Stay Blessed
